Revised DOC Procedures and Contact Numbers (Email from Maria Amato)

"Dear Judges and Colleagues,

I hope all is well.  Effective February 1, 2017,  the Department of Corrections , under the leadership of Interim Director Quincy L. Booth, is proud and pleased  to assume complete operational control of the Correctional Treatment Facility (CTF) after 20 years of operation by the Corrections Corporation of America.    The D.C. Jail and the CTF are now organized under the unified management of one Warden, Lennard Johnson with two Deputy Wardens, one for Programs and one for Operations in each facility.

Pursuant to this accomplishment, I have revised the attached Procedures for Attorney Visitation and Discovery Review.  It provides valuable information for navigating the Department of Corrections including access for attorneys and agents in legal visitation, our electronic surveillance and voluminous printed discovery review program, HIPAA and FERPA compliant releases for subpoenas and FOIA requests for records, and a very useful Phone Directory for Common Attorney Questions and Requests that includes new phone numbers for the CTF.

Your assistance is appreciated in ensuring this is disseminated to the Bench and Bar as soon as possible as we continue to enjoy a high level of coordination and cooperation among our criminal justice partners.  Have a wonderful evening. Best, Maria"

"PLEASE NOTE: Ms. Latoya Lane is no longer in the position of Deputy Warden for Programs. Ms. Lane’s office is no longer at the D.C. Jail. Many messages are being left on Ms. Lane’s old phone number 523-7014 in reference to inmates getting a haircut. At this time there is no one acting in the position of Deputy Warden for Programs.  Have all attorneys fax any request to 202-698-4877 or concerns call on 202-523-7010. P.S., Until we get a new Deputy for Programs no calls will be returned on 202-523-7014."
